A suffix is a group of letters added to the end of a word to change its meaning or how it's used. Suffixes are word endings!

⚠️ Spelling Rules When Adding Suffixes:
- If a word ends in 'e', usually drop the 'e' before adding -ing or -ed: hope → hoping, bake → baked
- If a word ends in 'y', change 'y' to 'i' before adding -ness, -ly, -ful: happy → happiness
- For short words ending in consonant-vowel-consonant, double the last letter: run → running, hop → hopped
💡 Remember: The suffix goes at the END of the word and changes how we use it!
